Policies

  • Please email our office with any schedule changes and requests. Schedule requests should be submitted by 4pm the day before. Requests received after that time will be subject to a $5 surcharge. Same day cancellation notices should be received by 9am. Cancellations received after 9am will be charged at the full cost of the visit.
  • Payment should be left on the last walk day of each week. We accept cash and checks made payable to Doggie Au Pair. There will be a $25 charge for returned checks.
  • Information which needs to be shared with walkers should be emailed to our office to ensure notifications are received and passed along.
  • Dogs must wear a flat collar with a name tag and valid dog license and must walk well on leash, with or without a training aid (harness, prong collar, gentle leader etc). We ask you provide a leash but note that for the safety of your dog we do not use flexi leashes. We are happy to clean off wet and muddy paws if you provide a towel.
  • Walkers will use their discretion and shorten walks on extremely hot or cold days or when weather conditions are deemed detrimental to the health of your dog.
  • For dog and walker safety, make efforts to clear snow and treat icy walkways.
  • All dogs must have a current rabies vaccine. We also strongly recommend bordatella (kennel cough) and a regular tick & flea prevention program.
  • We ask we are made aware if your pet has ever displayed aggressive behavior or has any health issues / allergies.
  • Please let DAP know immediately if your dog develops a condition considered contagious so we can arrange for solo walks until your vet confirms he / she is safe to join group walks.
  • DAP does not accept liability for contagious infections or diseases which may be passed from dog to dog (including but not limited to parasites, viruses, fleas, skin infections, GI infections & kennel cough).
  • While all employees are bonded & insured, our insurance will only cover incidents which occur due to the negligent behavior by an employee. It does not cover incidental accidents or injuries which may occur during regular play or where we determine a staff member was not at fault (including but not limited to sprains, broken bones, cuts or bites). If your dog becomes ill or injured while participating in activities with DAP we will make every reasonable effort to reach you. However, if we are unable to do so we will seek appropriate veterinary care. DAP will not be responsible for paying any veterinary expenses incurred.
